Mozaik Vocal Ensemble

  • About Mozaik Vocal Ensemble: The women of Mozaik Vocal Ensemble have been making music together for many years. They share a love of singing and of the unique qualities of vocal expression and harmony from different folk traditions. Their repertoire includes songs from the Balkans, Mongolia, Ukraine, Russia, Quebec, Appalachia, and other countries in Europe.
  • Our Members include the following...
  • Adina Sara has produced three albums of original songs, and performed her music in folk clubs and festivals throughout the West Coast, including Freight & Salvage and Ashkenaz. She was a member of Voci Woman's Vocal Ensemble before joining Mozaik.
  • Sandy Hollister plays percussion and/or sings with Aswat, the acclaimed Bay Area Arabic music ensemble, One Voice Circlesingers led by SoVoSo members, and the Balkan a cappella group Sedenka led by Bon Singer, former musical director of Kitka. She has performed with dance groups, bands and ensembles in the Bay Area.
  • Debbie Rosen Kanofsky is returning to her Balkan/Slavic roots, having studied Russian in college and having sung in Russian folk and liturgical, and Balkan choruses. She most recently has sung in Voci, a Bay Area women's ensemble.
  • Natalia Ukrainska is a native of Kiev, where she received a diploma in music and choir-conducting. She was a member of the Ensemble of the Border Guard of Ukraine, performing and touring as a soloist. Natalia emigrated to the US in 2005, and joined Kitka shortly thereafter. She currently sings in the Orthodox Church Choir of San Francisco
  • Lianne Venner spent 5 years as percussionist in a Brazilian Samba band in France before crossing 'the Pond' in 1997. She has performed with Westwind Voices, as dancer/vocalist with Jubilee American Dance Theatre and an Improvisational Circle Singing group.
  • Recent Performances: Le Bateau Ivre restaurant in Berkeley - live music on Wednesdays; Daniel Steinberg's house concert venue in Mountain View; Fifth Street Farms - house concert in Berkeley; and Middle Eastern Treasures Concert presented by Mary Ellen Donald
