Percussion driven music

KEITH TERRY is a percussionist/rhythm dancer/educator whose artistic vision blurs the line between music and dance. In addition to his solo performance, he has has collaborated with a wide range of artists such as Charles "Honi" Coles, Turtle Island String Quartet, Jovino Santos Neto, The Jazz Tap Ensemble, Gamelan Sekar Jaya, San Jose Taiko, and Bobby McFerrin. He is the artistic director of: the Crosspulse Percussion Ensemble; Slammin All-Body Band; and Professor Terry's Circus Band Extraordináire. His large-scale works include the Body Tjak Projects, an on-going series of multi-disciplinary performances involving artists from Indonesia and the Americas, which began in 1980, co-directed with I Wayan Dibia. From 1998 to 2005 Keith was on the faculty at UCLA's Department of World Arts and Cultures, where he designed and taught courses on the relationship of music and dance; deep listening; synchronicity, time and timing; and intercultural communication in the arts. In 2006 he conceived and directed the first international body music performance project in Salzburg with artists from Turkey, Finland, Spain, Austria and the US. He recently presented workshops and performances in Holland, Spain, Germany and Australia. Keith tours extensively in the Americas, Asia and Europe, where his Body Music workshops, residencies and choreographic commissions are popular among professional performers and educators.

  • TOBIAS ROBERSON is a virtuoso percussionist specializing in Middle Eastern and Balkan music. His innovative approach and style have been well documented on a plethora of recordings, movie soundtracks, and concert appearances. Tobias recently returned to the United States after living and performing in India where he studies carnatic violin, voice and percussion. He currently resides in San Francisco and tours internationally as a workshop leader and the principle percussionist with several ensembles and dance companies.   • DUSTY BROUGH is an inventive nylon string guitarist as well as a creative composer. His musical style is completely unique, seamlessly weaving Jazz, Brazilian, Flamenco, and Classical. He has performed and or recorded with artists such as: Jesse Cook, Cerro Negro, Robin DiMaggio (of Paul Simon) Hans York, Mark Summer (of the Turtle Island String Quartet) Mike Marshall, Joe Craven and Michael Buble. Playing with such a variety of artists and styles has given Dusty an original and distinctive voice on his instrument. In December of ’07 Dusty released a CD with acclaimed mandolin player Eva Scow of all original compositions. Dusty has toured throughout the U.S. and Canada . His music brings the sophistication of Classical music and the improvisation of Jazz together, all the while floating amid rhythmic energy and virtuosity.
