Wisteria Ways, a PRIVATE Northern California House Concert series with both indoor and outdoor settingsBy INVITATION ONLY --My lovely older Rockridge home has already been the host to several cultural events in the past few years (look on the left and click on Past Events). Now I'm moving forward, inviting a wide variety of acoustic music groups to share their artistry with the East Bay community. Over 75 folks gathered in August 2006 to enjoy the opening Wisteria Ways event with the amazing group TAARKA. Other events have followed--click on Past Events (listed by year). In 2020 we are proud to present Solstice, returning after a ten year hiatus, and TAARKA is returning too! ALL of the donations of $15-$25 (the amount of sliding scale changes for each group) goes to the musicians. Simple refreshments included. Feel free to bring something to share if you wish. Advance reservations are HIGHLY recommended. Indoor and Outdoor concert tipsThe following apply to both indoor and outdoor concerts:

SettingWisteria Ways can accommodate either indoor or outdoor concerts. The inside can seat up to 54 -- or more if the hallway stairs are included. There is ample wood, hardwood floors and beautiful 1913 Arts & Crafts features that nicely amplify voices and instruments. Outside, the extensive deck serves as a stage. Overhead netting can readily be put in place to provide sun protection from the southern exposure. The generous yard (150 feet deep by 75 feet wide) can easily accommodate 100 to 120 folks seated on blankets or lawn chairs (bring your own). My neighbors are aware of the Wisteria Ways series and are very supportive. LocationWisteria Ways is readily accessible via public transportation, a 7-minute walk from Rockridge BART, or a one-mile bus ride from the UC Berkeley campus. Please use public transporation as it will decrease parking concerns. Street parking is, however, usually available. Address is: 383-61st Street, Oakland, CA 94618. E-mail info@WisteriaWays.org if you want directions. Or look at the Google Map. PerformersI offer performers a home-cooked meal for out of town musicians before or after the show, simple accommodations and a heart full of appreciation. Overall, Wisteria Ways strives to present a wide variety of roots based music, whether based on a particular traditional style or blended in a unique fashion from a variety of traditions. First and foremost Wisteria Ways values top professional quality musicianship. Added to this is an appreciation for the ability to play diverse styles (and instruments) within a particular genre. Musician groups because of the wonderful synergy generated between members, are definitely preferred. In general Wisteria Ways books approximately one event per month, and is booked in advance for at least one year, and often times for two years. Based on this, last minute inquiries unfortunately will not receive a response. Moreover, please understand that Wisteria Ways receives a high volume of inquiries. Regrettably, though your interest is very much appreciated, it is not possible to craft a personal response for each. Music has been part of my entire life--from playing flute for many years band, orchestra, chamber groups), to currently singing in The World Harmony Chorus led by Daniel Steinberg) these past 8 years. So it is a natural transition to hosting music of the world in my home. I will provide beverages and munchies. Reservations and directions: contact info at wisteriaways.org **PREFERRED**
